Welcome! The Holidays are Here!

The dynamic Holiday Windows on Main art contest and community program pairs some of the area’s most talented artists with downtown businesses to create unique and enchanting window displays along Main Street, between 12th and 14th Streets.
The decorated storefronts are festive and family-friendly, tied together with the 2012 theme: “Whimsical Winter Wonderland.”
YOU ARE INVITED: The 2012 Holiday Windows will be unveiled on Friday, November 16th, beginning at 6 p.m. Come out to meet the artists and check out their windows as they’re revealed for the first time! The Holiday Kick-off Celebration will also feature holiday lights, complimentary hot cocoa, open houses at participating businesses, sneak-peek holiday shopping, happy hour specials and more (5 to 8 p.m.)!
VOTING: Don’t forget to vote for your favorite window! During the first four weeks the windows are on display (November 16 – December 16, 2012), guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite storefront design! Prizes will be awarded to artists/charity pairings for first, second and third place. The 2012 Holiday Windows will remain on display thru January 5, 2012.
Artist Liason

Vanessa Lacy graduated from Missouri State University in 2007 with a BSED in Art Education and a BFA with an emphasis in drawing. She earned a Masters in Education in 2009 from Baker University and has been teaching art to elementary students for 6 years at Kentucky Trail Elementary School. After college, downtown Kansas City beckoned her to the Crossroads Art District where she became a resident artist at the Arts Incubator for two years. She became very involved in the local art scene working closely with Hello Art, Artist Inc, occasionally teaching private drawing lessons from her studio at the Livestock Exchange Building in Kansas City’s West Bottoms, and sometimes teaching as a guest artist through Kemper Art Museum’s Art Reach program. Most recently she is assisting businesses in the Power and Light District as the Artist Liaison for the 3rd Annual Holiday Window Installation Competition. Between teaching full time and being involved in these local organizations, she manages to find time to make bright, colorful oil paintings and colored pencil drawings featuring landmarks around downtown Kansas City and portraits of Kansas City locals. You can see more of her work on her website at www.vanessajadelacy.com.
