The dynamic Holiday Windows on Main art contest and community program pairs some of the area’s most talented artists with downtown businesses to create unique and enchanting window displays along Main Street, between 12th and 14th Streets.

The decorated storefronts are festive and family-friendly, tied together with the 2011 theme: “Holiday Spirit: The Spirit of Giving.” This year’s theme incorporates local charities by pairing each artist and business with a Kansas City-based charity.

YOU ARE INVITED: The 2011 Holiday Windows will be unveiled on Friday, November 18th, at 6 p.m. The holiday kick off event will also feature holiday lights, complimentary hot cocoa, open houses at participating businesses, sneak-peek holiday shopping, happy hour specials and more (5 to 8 p.m.)!

HOLIDAY WINDOW WALKS: Join us every Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. for our Holiday Window Walks (beginning November 19th). During the walks, you are invited to stroll along Main Street and enjoy the artists’ window displays. Participating businesses will offer special events, holiday carols, tastings, shopping specials and more, every Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Get here early on December 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th, and check out the Holiday Movies at the AMC Mainstreet Theatre for only $5.

VOTING: Don’t forget to vote for your favorite window! During the first four weeks the windows are on display (November 18 – December 16, 2011), guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite storefront design. Prizes will be awarded to artists/charity pairings for first, second and third place. The 2011 Holiday Windows will remain on display thru January 2, 2012.
